Typhoon Haiyan Relief Help
In the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, the question many are asking is, “How can we help?” For over a decade, Woodbridge Community Church has been sending Medical and Dental Mission teams to the Philippines, reaching out to poor and underprivileged communities. Last August, we sent a team from Irvine to do medical and dental outreach in the Visayas region, the very same general area affected by Typhoon Haiyan. We have ministry partners in the area that are able to mobilize teams to distribute relief goods and provide medical screening. There are medicines and goods available in other areas of the country that were not severely affected by the typhoon. What are needed urgently are the funds to purchase these goods and transport them to the affected areas.
The news media is focusing in Tacloban City because it is the most densely populated city affected by the typhoon. However, there are several smaller towns and villages equally decimated by Haiyan, which are not receiving this much needed help. These are areas in Northern Cebu and Bantayan Island, Northern Negros and Panay. See link below:
We are partnering with 3 faith based NGO’s: Ikthus Philippines, Converge Philippines and Breakthrough Church, all who have networks in these devastated areas and are able to organize people to help. They are currently assessing the damage, planning strategies, and mobilizing teams. They are ready to deploy and all they are waiting for are funds to purchase relief goods. If you would like to send a donation, please mail your checks payable to: Woodbridge Community Church 5000 Barranca Parkway, Irvine, CA 92604. Designated as: Humanitarian relief
