Kids In Action on Sundays
WCC Kids, ages 0-11
Philosophy and Values
T eamwork through biblical teaching and example
E quipping through hands on Bible learning and scripture exploration
Accepting each child where they are and loving them to God
M entoring and ministering to each child through encouragement, direction and discovery of gifts and talents.
In the WCC Children’s Ministry, we think that spiritually leading children is a “team” endeavor. These “team” goals are achieved as parents and children’s ministry leaders partner together to spiritually nurture children. Thus, the programs at WCC are designed to support parents in their role as spiritual leaders of their children. The staff and volunteer workers support and nurture children, but never take the place of the primary spiritual directors in any child’s life, their parents. Our ministry leaders share their love for the Lord and have a special place in their heart for children. Each Sunday group leader is equipped with tools to help children learn through relational, experiential, applicable and learner-based lessons. Our goal is to encourage them to become Christ’s disciples and find joy and excitement in being who God created them to be.
Nursery: 0-2 years
Even the youngest child can experience God’s love through the nurturing care adults provide. In our nursery, open during our Sunday morning service, infants and toddlers will enjoy playing together in a safe environment. For those who have very young children, our Nursery Annex allows parents to care for their little ones while participating in the worship service.
WCC Kids: 2 years – 5th Grade
Our programs and events focus on encouraging family times because we wholeheartedly believe that spiritual shepherding of children begins with parents. Our role as children’s ministers is to enhance and encourage, not replace the training and leadership that is asked of each parent by God. This is evidenced by our use of the Tru Curriculum, which is designed to empower parents to engage in spiritual discussion with their children.
Our annual events usually include a Harvest Festival, a Christmas event, and the Easter Journey, which is an opportunity for kids to experience the last week of Jesus’ life in Jerusalem and the triumph of His Resurrection. During the summer we work to provide creative activities mid-week, camping trips and more. Through these events, we emphasize the importance of building character through community, service and outreach. For more information about what’s going on in WCC children’s ministry, stop by on a Sunday morning or e-mail us to request a current calendar of events. We’d love to meet your family!
Newsletters and Email Contact:
We make every effort to keep the parents and family informed of all upcoming events, changes to programming and other important details through monthly newsletters and weekly parent emails. Parents receive the Tru Curriculum’s “HomeFront Weekly” (Elementary Kids) and (Preschoolers) each week, as well as the “HomeFront Monthly” on a monthly basis. You can also access it here via our links.
AWANA: Ages 3 – 8th Grade
This is a non-denominational Bible-Centered ministry to children providing hands-on training in Bible memorization and learning emphasized through age-appropriate clubs, games, lessons, and relational development. This program is open to the community and runs September – May on Sundays from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Click here to find out more about the Awana Ministry.
WCC Kids Sunday Schedule
Nursery is housed in the main worship center close to parents and we also offer a nursery annex for parents who need to care for fussy babies during the service
Our preschoolers and elementary students attend classes in their own building where they enjoy games, crafts, music and interactive Bible Stories each week.
Once a month we encourage families of our elementary aged children to participate in Communion together. The children are then dismissed to their classrooms at the close of this family communion.
|During the month of December
we encourage families to attend worship service together to enjoy Advent, singing Christmas carols and participating in the larger body life of the church. The children are dismissed to their classes prior to the adult message so that they may enjoy and participate in their own Christmas celebrations and story in age appropriate ways.
